Creation Stories

Music impresario Alan McGee's journey from his native Glasgow into the heyday of '90s British rock music intercut with an older version of himself recounting these events to an interviewer.

From writer Irvine Welsh and Executive Producer Danny Boyle the Trainspotting duo bring you CREATION STORIES the unforgettable tale of infamous Creation Records' founder Alan McGee; and of how the young charismatic Glaswegian from humble beginnings went on to sign generation-defining bands such as Oasis and Primal Scream. McGee irrevocably changed the face of British culture and created the soundtrack that defined the 90s.

This energetic yet selectively appealing affair will never be ranked among the greatest music biopics of our time. In fact if you don't already know of the fella whose life story is being told here - or the seminal bands he signed to his famous Creation record label in the '80s and '90s - then you will generally be none the wiser after.

Scottish music impresario Alan McGee certainly charted an unconventional course to fame and fortune a journey which is covered at a brisk pace and with respectful disrespect by screenwriter Irvine "Trainspotting" Welsh.

However once we've seen heard and moved past the many acts that beeped on McGee's refined pop-cultural radar (Primal Scream Jesus and Mary Chain Oasis) the true essence of this mercurial and enigmatic figure remains frustratingly hard to identify. Stars Ewen Bremner Suki Waterhouse.
